Town centre and housing areas were hit in a recent spree of anti-social behaviour in mid Wales. Police are looking into the burglary of an old Mace supermarket, when offenders forced entry into the semi-derelict building in Rhayader and removed a copper tank and several lengths of copper piping.

Workers from an industrial estate had to be evacuated to a nearby pub after a huge blaze swept the site on Monday. The estate in Surrey needed to be cleared, as explained by Christine Brooks, a waitress at the Peacock Lodge pub.

Police say a fire at a power sub-station was begun deliberately. Copper conductors and switchgear were also stolen from the station on Merseyside in the early hours of the morning.

A row has erupted over the removal of a boundary marker which divided flocks.
