Construction firm Willmot Dixon moves to larger premises in Hitchin

Construction company Willmot Dixon has decided to move its regional construction office in Hitchin from Park Street to a bigger property in nearby Wilbury Way, in order to provide enough room for expansion and the creation of new jobs, a news report in the local business media has revealed.

Willmott Dixon’s Hitchin office is the company’s regional base from where it delivers construction projects across a range of industry sectors in the northern Home Counties and London.

New Queen’s Terminal at Heathrow set to open in June

The brand new Queen’s Terminal at Heathrow airport is set to officially open on 4 June 2014 following 5 years of redevelopment work, a news release in the local business media has revealed.

Apart from the main Terminal 2 building, the new terminal will also include a monumental new sculpture by artist Richard Wilson RA, a 1,340-space car park and an energy centre and cooling station.

New railway station set to be built at Cambridge Science Park

A new rail station at Cambridge Science Park was granted planning permission by the Cambridgeshire County Council in a bid to help shorten the journey times between the city’s main business areas and London, a news report in the local business media has revealed.

The station, designed by Atkins, will make it possible for passengers to travel between Science Park, St John’s Innovation Centre and the Cambridge Business Park to London in just around 30 minutes.

SMEs to be actively involved in north Wales super-prison scheme

More than 250 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have participated in a large-scale tender for supplying various services as part of the project to build a new prison for north Wales, a news report in the business media has revealed.

The sub-contracting projects were put out to tender by Kier, Carillion, Lend Lease and Interserve – the four contractors who are themselves bidding to build the new prison for the Ministry of Justice.

The global physical access control market is set to record a 7% increase over 2013 levels, research firm IHS Technology has predicted during a recent report.

The new report suggest that this specific market segment will reach an overall $3.4 billion. Additionally, for the video market, IHS Technology forecasts 12 percent global growth this year, with fixed-dome and 180/360-degree network cameras as the fastest growing categories.
